Last week Turkey declared its intention to send troops into Northern Iraq in pursuit of Kurdish insurgents, and George Bush addressed the White House press corps as follows.
“Yes, we know there is a terrorism problem in Northern Iraq. But there are better ways of dealing with it than…”

What a superb blog this is ! I have learnt more about what is going on in Turkey reading Mark Mardell’s Euroblog than I ever would have reading the newspapers. It seems almost as significant as Israel in ‘middle-east’ affairs but seems to get 1% as much coverage.
By the way, I bumped into you via the Lib Dem Voice blog, not by looking for Italian Sex Positions. Although it is easy to see how such mistakes can be made when the Italian arm of that energy conglomerate came up with the intriguing website name…
powergenitalia…
However, closer, er, inspection reveals that this may just be one of those urban myths..

Tea! Idleness! Liberalism! Wine! Being a Good Egg! An end to excessive punctuation in our times!
Hmm.. Having just read your manifesto, either you are the soul mate I have been looking for, or you are the person they were looking for in the news last week to become the UK’s ‘benevolent dictator’ when we secede from the EU – Either way I strongly recommend the Tom Hodgkinson book ‘How to be Free’ [follow-up to 'How to be Idle] as a guide to how become a guru to a generation wanting to turn off the relentless tide of capitalist bollocks infecting our nation.

[Be warned, this book may change your life, although I have a sneaking suspicion you are well on the way to achieving bliss already]

Aha, thanks for that, didn’t realise he had a follow-up book out. The difficulty, of course, is whether buying it doesn’t in itself contribute to the capitalist bollocks, or failing that at least to the wellbeing of another idler, and an economy in which idlers just pay one another for their thoughts would quickly come a cropper, more’s the pity.
